The New Indianapolis Airport was the largest public improvement project the City of Indianapolis has ever undertaken. The new facility was the first new airport designed and constructed in the United States after the 9/11 attacks and included state of the art safety and security measures.
Shrewsberry provided site/civil Owner’s Technical Representation on the New Indianapolis Airport project. Shrewsberry oversaw all site/civil aspects of this project including site development, grading, stormwater, public utilities, sanitary sewer, roads, bridges, parking lots, new apron, new taxiways and connectors, and demolition of the old FAA Airport Traffic Control Tower.
We also managed the project’s QA/QC process (including site observation, testing and inspection of construction materials during earthwork operations, foundation installation concrete placement and masonry installation), and the contracting functions with the various design firms. In addition, Shrewsberry was responsible for permitting and environmental compliance project-wide.
Shrewsberry also provided Owner’s Technical Representation for the new Fire Station and associated site improvements adjacent to the new Midfield Terminal. Services include: coordination with other Midfield activities, schedule and budget compliance, management of the fast-track design of the project, coordination with all user entities, monitoring the construction progress, and coordinating the work of three design firms and two construction management firms.
