IndyGo Bus Rapid Transit is being implemented to better connect Indianapolis and the City of Lawrence. The second of four planned lines, the “Purple Line,” was completed in 2024 and is an improvement to the existing Route 39 local service, one of the highest ridership and most productive routes in the IndyGo system.
The Purple Line includes infrastructure improvements such as sidewalks, roadways, driveways, signals, as well as drainage and the implementation of BRT lanes throughout the corridor. Shrewsberry’s responsibilities include preliminary review of BRT stations, bus station platforms, transit, lighting, electrical, permits, and erosion control for value engineering purposes. In addition, Shrewsberry was tasked with evaluating the Purple Line local bus route maintenance of traffic and making recommendations for temporary operations during construction.
